So rads ordered, so are silicone top + bottom hoses, and gearbox mount. Have a thermostat and gasket there too.

The gearbox mount is that crap that the transfer case is resting on the bash plate. No wonder it has some lovely vibrations, which I was desensitised to from my Renault Clio sport with polyurethane engine mounts lol (like a washing machine but cos race car).

Hopefully after this is all done, and all stuff greased the jeep gives me no more hassles for a while lol. Will have to do diff fluid and trans fluid too.

Anyone know what power steering fluid is recommended? Just power steering fluid or something special?
+Rear diff fluid? (Does it need an additive?)
-gearbox oil like Dex IV or just ATF or something?

Cheers

the oil specs are in the FSM

PS fluid is NOT regular fluid, search archives here

I have standardised across my various vehicles with 10-40W Castrol Magnatec

90W LSD

Penrite semi-synthetic trans fluid

I obtain them all "on sale" at @40% off, the big auto chains run these sales often

The largest auto trans place up here use only semi-synthetic or full synthetic in ALL vehicles

got an air/oil/fuel filter kit off Ebay for about $35

Ford Z9 filter is twice as big, and cheaper than Jeep-sized item

I did change out the trans filter and pan gasket (which require mount to be removed)

Cheers!

So. Put Lucas stop leak in the power steering, stopped it groaning. Used penrite LSD oil in the d35, leaves good black lines everywhere now gearbox mount changed... No more clunking.

Rad is out at the moment as I need to fit a trans cooler in series with the other one and do a drive belt so the jeeps in pieces. It had no coolant, only water and the rad was siliconed up. No wonder it leaked. Thermostat is in, hoses changed and just need to get some fittings and the drive belt tomorrow and change it all should be back on the road soon.

My roof liner is sagging now :'(

a few solutions;

1) use clear plastic pins, to stop it getting worse, (or permanently...good for a sheila)

2) swap for a better one, i did this, but it was free, (my "backing board" was a bit damaged too)

3) re-line = fabric ~$100 + glue...i think there is even a youtube

4) get a pro to do it...when i did a "write-up", a lister opined that for $200, save time waste, and I agreed, altho that is a GOOD price imo

it takes much longer to do something 1st time, I have done a few now and get quicker each time

Cheers! I have a heap of pins on the roof at the moment. I'll call some upholsterers up and see what they say price wise. Cheers.
