StuieG based on your experience, some have said that the JK CRD 2.8 needs the EGR to operate so as to not cause an "over boost". What is your opinion?

I know all about the removal of it and what needs to be done. I've been a technician for a prestige car brand (german, no names) for 13 years and my background is heavily diesel influenced, I'm from the UK where diesels are 10 times more popular than here

I've had untold amounts of bad experiences with DPF's, EGR's and PCV systems used on diesel engines in the last 5-10 years. So on my own car I want to get rid of these to make my engine last a little longer and go a little better.

The DPF's do cause a flow problem with exhaust gases, anything you put in the way of an otherwise open pipe does. It only catches soot which I'm not bothered about, I'll just point the tip of the exhaust at the floor

The EGR i want to remove (the EGR function anyway) as I dont want already burnt, sooty exhaust gas ending up in my nice clean air/fuel mix and clogging up the ports and the oil. You cant remove the EGR on these completely as they are used as a wastegate function, but tuning it with a good dyno prgram can do this properly

And finally I want a decent catch-can oil seperator system to further prolong the life of the engine. I still service my diesels every 5000 kms, but this will keep them nice and clean

The straight through pipe, aside from the aforementioned reasons, is really just for sound! A mate of mine has 3" straight through system on his hilux and it sounds like it"ll rip your nuts off and throw them at you, haha!

Not sure I understand you mate? I've mentioned that they use the EGR as a wastegate (from what I've been told, I do not know this for certain), but you can tune/reprogram the ECU to keep this function without using the intended purpose of it
