Diesel Fuel Filter Bottom Sensor Broken???
Hi all,
I've found that at the bottom of my genuine diesel fuel filter the black screw-in cap has a sensor inside of it and the two wires that run through the cap have broken off...
Does anyone know what sensor this is? water in fuel or heating element?
Also is there a spare part to replace this black cap/sensor and the connector cable?
FYI - the replacement fuel filter doesn't come with this black cap/sensor (only comes with a standard white cap)
Thanks in advance!

That would be your water in fuel sensor.
Car will run fine without it , many dont like it as it's a bit sensitive anyhow (never had issue with mine though)
Not sure on the part # , but someone will chime in with that info soon I'd say.
Cheers

Thanks Patrick.
Yeah i think i’ve been running with the connector broken for quite some time now. Just got some big long drives (off-road as well) coming up and thought i should probably replace it.
Proving difficult to identify the part number and Jeep OEM reckon I need to buy a completely new filter for like $375AUD
Just want the sensor & connector cable

Not a spare part, will have to purchase complete new Fuel filter unit to get one.
However they've also changed the sensor connector (not the previous screw in with pigtail)
So will need new pigtail wire kit from the frame harness Mopar 68043086AC to enable to reach and plug into this new water in fuel connector PITA
Might be easier to get someone to re-solder the wires to your existing screw in sensor.

As you have found out the silly wiring on this sensor commonly breaks, but, and as others have said, the whole sensor is kinda useless as it'll light up the dash saying water in fuel if you drive through a small puddle on the road so can't be trusted to actually tell when you legitimately have water/condensation in your fuel.
Anyhow, wiring on that sensor broke for me 2 years ago and I have just tucked it up in the chassis and not bothered about it.
