Default CRD Oil consumption

Got over 150,000 Km's on my 2.8CRD
Has rarely lost much oil over that time.
Just noticed recently that it 'maybe' using approx 1/4 litre every 2500 Kms or so.
Just wondering what others are experiencing and what to expect in the future ?
Used 5w-30 for first 100K when dealer serviced and now Mobil1 esp 0w-40 since, (pre DPF model) changing every 5K, which I've found runs noticeably smoother.

considered a 5-40w oil?
Join the facebook page for CRD jk's there are some euro guys on the page so you can compare the ambient temperatures for oil type.

500ml over 5k isnt a huge deal, do you have a catch can?

No catch can

Did try some Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5w-40 Ester based oil a couple of years back for a couple of fills, but once after doing quite a number short trips back & forth to the local garbage dump the engine light came on, so I dont think maybe the Cat Con liked it !

Can get the Moble1 0w-40 esp quite cheap(1/2 price) currently from local retailer as there're matching on line price I'm furnishing them with.
The oil is still clear since last change about a month ago !
If its starts eating some oil in the future will it be advantageous to try a slightly heavier 5w ... is there that much of a difference ?

if the oil pressure light came on, the engines finished.. But remember the oil pressure switch is a common fault, a few crd owners have had to replace them because of giving fake readings.
We use 10-40 in Aus in most cases,
Get a catch can, that is likely where your oil is going..

Wasn't the oil pressure light its was the check engine light which went off the next day.
That was a couple of years back

Maybe I should invest in a code reader !
Did try the ignition key sequence but didn't show anything
(does that actually work on export models) ?
Given your experience any recommendations would be welcome, especially as I'm leaning towards keeping this till the wheels drop off
Unless
1. FCA have a fire sale on the new models like they did when I purchased mine back in 2009
2. Price reduction due to leaving the EU (if it ever happens) and killing the 10% import duty on USA vehicles
3. Better engine choice other than 2.2 FIAT diesel or 2.0L petrol that are the only options currently available
