Default UHF install with a difference - Icom IC-450N in a JKU

Do you dislike drilling holes in interiors as much as me? Here's a workaround that gets my UHF hand piece up where I can see it.

It's the new Icom IC-450N, so the body is hidden away under the seat. That part's easy.

Check the photos for the rest of the install.

Hope this helps.

I have my uhf above my center mirror. The steel loop that is above for the roof is connected to a standard "ID retractor" which holds the weight of my UHF radio handset nicely.

All removable, and very discreet.

I stuck the mount on the left side of the center with double sided tape. A couple of years ago...

I used self tappers to mount the unit on the right side of the console next to the gear lever and strong double sided tape for the mic on the right side of the centre console. Its never looked like moving.

GME 3540 mounted behind the panel underneath the steering column, remote mic mounts to Rugged Ridge A pillar switch pod. Hidden, easy to get at mic and won't be affected by water from deep bog holes.
