x2 It's usually the second or third of the group you hit , I drum into my kids that they should never swerve to miss a roo/sheep/dog etc. Better to kill the animal than to change lanes & have a head on or clean up a guard rail / pedestrian/parked car & kill themselves .

It's also hard to prove the roo/dog/goat whatever was there if you missed it. Easier to approve the claim and fix busted metal if there is a little fur in it.

suprisingly i still have the job, my short term vehicle is a 4wd rodeo with 8000ks on the clock..
panel shop recons the chassie is bent - cant believe that - but i'm no specialist..would get a second opinion if it was mine..
