Added a UHF last week. I originally had the aerial on the windscreen bolts but the car was interfering with the broadcast so I then moved it down the bonnet and just bent up a bracket and used an original bolt to mount it to. It held up to driving down rough tracks all day on Monday so it seems to be holding up fine.

What sort of problem with transmission were you having when it was under the windscreen bolts? Mine is an elevated feed mounted on the windscreen bolts and seems to work fine. Was testing with a mate a few weeks ago on the highway and he turned off and we lost comms between us when I had sdone about another 3km up the high way at 110, he had turned off to the right doing 80km/hr so we were at least 5km apart when we lost each other.

I was only broadcasting about 1-2kms and then i was losing the guys i was talking too. Now that I have moved it down the bonnet I have a far bit further range now with it being approximately 7km range talking back to my work (as the crow fly's). That was also crystal clear too so the range would still be further than that.

I had my uhf tested when i had it mounted on the windscreen bolts and the bloke said that the car would be interfering with the broadcast and advised me to move it down the bonnet.

Wow. Thats quite a difference. Have been meaning to try mine further toward the front but its a real pain to relocate as I have to pull the whole cable back out thought the firewall and from behind the dash and refeed it all the way back again. One day maybe

Also the missus prefers it where it is out of the way - prob safer keeping the missus happy since it works ok!

Sent from Tapatalk 2.4 on my Galaxy S2 as I finally ditched the Windows 7.5 heap of rubbish

Default Pro-rack & Track Setup

Further to Hotdognz' message...I had Pro Racks fitted to my JKU in Jan/Feb of this year through Altapac in Newcastle. Can't recall what brand of tracks they used but might have been Yakima (see pics). They did them pretty well exactly as you have them (great minds think alike), by placing the track on top of the raised roof rib - except on a 4 door in a single track. They look clean, are easy to remove and position/setup. I also have the Pro Rack 4 x board snowboard carrier and 2 x bike racks than can fit (just) on either side. It all works really well and all lockable. Have carted snowboard and skis 14 hr round trip to snow. Couple of mountain bikes. All good. Cost for the pair of racks and tracks installed was around the $500 mark from memory.
