So, just unbolt those two bolts that hold the compressor? All the way out, or just loosen enough to back out the compressor a bit?

Found the picture on my phone. Ill post the fullsize picture when i get home. Like this;

And than what? Weld the tube unto it? Not sure where the benefit lies as compared to a ready to bold on new tube. But nice pic.

Weld what tube? You don't need the tube. If you zoom in that's a barbed fitting. You just buy 5/8" heater core hose (like 3 feet of it) and run it from the firewall heater core inlet to the barbed fitting on the water pump. You'd just slide the hose over the barbs and hose clamp it on. Not sure what you're trying to weld? (You dont need the pickup tube at all. This replaces it.) Just be sure to use a thread sealant on the barbed fitting/and or pickup tube. Teflon tape is a lubricant - not a sealant.

It also makes replacing the thermostat easier. You can't pull off the thermostat housing because the tube will be in the way. You'd have to slightly loosen it and risk making it leak.

I've never seen a RHD compressor but as someone stated just loosen up the bolts some until you can get enough clearance. If you can't get enough clearance take all the bolts out and remove the A/C compressor. (Leave the hoses attached) and then hang it off to the side with like a coat hanger so you're not stressing the rubber hoses.

The belt tensioner is a 15mm bolt on the back of the power steering pump. (Unless its different on RHDs.) An extension and a socket should reach it nicely. Just losen that up a bit to slack the belt to pull the compressor if necessary.

This bloke never misses a beat
However...
All you need to do (if youre good ) is pull off your serp belt (13mm socket ) pull off your fans (8mm socket on fasteners, 12mm on fan nuts) then it'll fly off the front once you pull the 4 (or so, can't remember that bit ) bolts out...

Ah, got it. Well, getting that bit is probably the difficult part then.
Tensioner on my RHD is the alternator. Yes, there are differences between RHD and LHD, location of steeringpump is same place, different front though.
I'll work it out. Biggest issue is getting to the waterpump and that steering pump bracket needs to come off, but it looks I have to remove a lot before I get that done

Another thing I noted: the gasket for my waterpump has not got a centre round circle, but is more like a ' teardrop' shaped' centre (the centre that kinda goes around the impeller). I compared it with Rockauto pictures, who show the Omix Ada gasket having a round centre hole (my new pump is Omix-Ada) but others, like Felpro, showing the teardrop shape.
Does this matter?

I think you're referring to my rambles.

I actually have a lot of stuff saved in notepads on my computer that i just copy/paste from. Seems like people are always asking about topics i can just copy/paste something into.

Well you learn something new everyday. I'll make a note of the tensioner being on the alternator on the RHD XJs.

I know the alternator is where my A/C compressor is located. I honestly don't know know where your A/C compressor is.

I think i only had to take one bolt out of the power steering pump bracket, and then i could slide the waterpump in and get the bracket over it then bolt it back in. I have a bunch of pictures on my phone of it, but i don't want to clog your thread up.
