Yes.. Agreed totally. Has been covered a few times before now and I am yet to do something to mine for exactly same reason.
One I saw that I liked was making a wedge and placing under the accelerator assembly. The whole assembly is bolted to the firewall with 6mm (from memory) studs/nuts. Undo the nuts, unscrew the studs (which has been my stumbling point so far - havent been able to remove them), stick a wedge about 120 to 150mm long and 25 to 30mm thick at the base under the assembly then use new longer 6mm bolts through the assembly into the firewall.
Have also seen simpler ones such as a 2 to 3 inch block attached to the pedal surface... Not very sophisticated, but functional!
