Default Aaaahhhhhhfffffffffuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!

In with the good air, out with the bad. phewwwwwwww........

Well, f**k me!!!!
Changed the coolant today! All good. Topped up nice and full. Test drive lasted 5klm max. Needle went off the dial!!!!!!!

I pulled over, left it running, popped the bonnet.................the radiator was COLD!??? Top hose, cold till just near the thermostat housing. Bottom hose, stone motherless COLD. Engine....FAARKING HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to loosen the rad cap, didn't quite get that far, I heard a gentle woosh noise and felt the cap heating up. Waited a bit inside and watched the temp fall. Too FAR?????????????? Sat on the line under 100*C, 80*C maybe?

I'm thinkin bodgy thermostat.
sigh
Why the f**k me?

Did you bleed all the air out before the drive?

I did think air lock at first but I modded the thermostat. Removed the toggle and enlarged the hole to 5mm. Installed it at the top.

Front was jacked and I thought I burped it properly. Maybe not. I'm goin mental..

Hey bruggz351,

I have known my system to still loose air for over a week, sometimes 2. It has to go through several cold and hot cycles to get it all the air out.

The first time it is filled, I go for a run and then make sure I fell the heat around the system by feeling/squeezing the hoses and radiator as you have done.

In the beginning of the process, after the first burp I over fill the over flow bottle by an inch or so sometimes 2 inches just to make sure it has enough coolant to draw back in when cooling.

Over the next 2 weeks I make sure that the over flow bottle is full and check it after each run until I am convinced it has finished and I am confident that it is finished. Yes annoying.............
