I was thinking about what I've done to mine since I've owned it since 2018.

This is just what comes to mind:
Fuel lines
Idler pulleys
Alternator pulley
Power steering pump hose
Thermostat
Battery
Injectors and seals
Power window regulator
All suspension components

These are just things that failed.

Can't say I've ever done that much to any other car I have owned.

I did all the work myself, hate to think of the cost of I payed someone. Lucky I'm a fitter by trade.

Mine will be for sale in the near future. Can't be bothered fixing cars anymore. Shame, it's in great condition.

That's also something to keep in mind, I know I'm not getting any younger!

Mine is a 1982 300D. I have currently 410K on the clock. The engine runs beautifully. Starts at first crank and literally no blowby. I need to get a new alternator for it though since I am running a subwoofer and and an amp which might have blown the weak 55amp alternator. I will upgrade to a 115 amp Saab 9000 alternator which will slide in but have to upgrade the cable from the alternator to the battery then.

I go through the "stay or go" conundrum at least once every quarter. I was seriously considering moving my WG on a few weeks ago and going to an NT Pajero shorty after mine spat the upper rear ball joint.

My rational to stay was that I have invested a lot of time and effort into getting my WG reliable. It is capable. Switching cars brings with it the risk of buying somebody else's troubles.

My solution - stay invested and dive deeper. I'm ordering the Iron-Rock upper rear arm.

Thanks JeanLuke. I think I made my decision. Time is something I cannot buy. And I am spending all day long in working and on the weekends most likely on my car. My son is at the moment in a phase where I should and need spend time with him as much as possible and I cant. The mods I would install will take a long time because (the German in me) since I have it appart I am alos recondition it if it is rusty or the paint has chipped off or I see that the bearing or bushings are gone.

And since I have now everything apart, I can simply sell the car as it is with good conscience since I removed all the issues it had, including water in the foot well or the rusty sun roof. Only thing I am thinking to add are some shocks all around. They are not in good condition anymore. I did not bother since I was planning to install the lift with the shocks. But now things have changed and I think it is not a good idea to drive this car on a long run with these shocks. I could never forgive myself is someone would buy the car and had an accident because of it.

The other parts I can sell individually. I will recondition them so that they can be installed as they are and do not need additional work. Most of them have brand new bushings or the flex joints from IRO which I have installed where I could

Everybody's circumstances are different. I'll be sorry to see you leave the CRD community, but also understand. For what it is worth, working on my Jeep was opportunity to spend more time with my son.

Do you have an IRO upper rear arm in your parts for sale? I'll take it. PM me please.

I made the decidion and bought a 1995 Landrover Defender Dual Cab today. It has everything installed what I wanted. This includes a proper lift, 34 inch tyres, air lockers front and rear, snorkel, manual transmission and lots more. Condition is decent, need a bit of welding here and there and some new door handle and a new pitman arm joint (the joint is on the pitman and not the steering link) but thats about it. Wife does not like it since it does not look shiny but I can fix this thing and I do not have to worry getting stranded.

I was trying getting my son involved when I worked on my cars since I believe it is important for any man having a basic mechanical understanding. So far no luck. All his friends are totally enthusiastic about it but not him. I guess I have ot try again a couple of years (he is 12).

I will drop all the parts I have to sell in the selling section. There is plenty of it from steering column, steering wheel to break lines, seals. entire set of doors all around with windows and electronics etc. 6 inch lift kit, front and rear pumper, cam filter (not installed), front and rear lights, brake booster, break cylinder, steering box, steering pump, ARB Dana 30 air locker Locker, ARB Dana 30 diff heavy duty diff cover, unused 4.56 Gear ring and pinion front and rear, one dana 30 front carrier and 2 in the rear, dana 30 front axle with axle tubes brand new flex joints and ball joints, and truss, as well as dana 44A rear axle, either with truss or truss as a separate thing read to install set of 2 rear axle, one set of stock front axle, one u-joint conversion axle with brand new joints, double cardan front shaft, 2 rear stock drive shafts, 2 247 transfer cases and one 242 including new seals and bearings ...... and much much more. Most of the suspension parts are from IRO

Not sure if my rear arms will fit since they are for a lift kit and not the stock ones.
