Garage heater? Need advice/ what do you use?
Hey guys, it's getting bloody cold down here in Canberra now and the shed is like a freezer. I'm going to be painting a few things and it's just to cold for anything to dry. I dropped into bunnings this morning to get one but they didn't really have anything and the help was just bullsh*t they had a good range of patio heaters and sillilar out door heaters but I believe they are dangerous to run in the shed due to the fumes. So I dropped into super cheap and they had a barrel heater by Stanley but the kid working there said they are also sh*t. So now I don't know what to look at. I am renting so putting in a wood heater is out, so I need a plug in or gass bottle one.
So What is everyone else using???? Any advice on what I should be looking for?
Thanks

I was thinking to get one of those barrel heaters too, thought as long as you leave a window cracked open you'd be fine? Even with wood heaters this is recommended.

Aaaah, spray painting, paint, thinners and other flammable items in the same environment as an open flame heater is a bit like throwing a rattle snake in with your pet mongoose.
Be careful!
Burning or blowing your shed up won't do much for your tenancy rating either!
I don't suppose you have thought about moving to a warmer climate?

In tech college we used to use these to warm up panels before painting and to help dry after painting too. They get very warm, hot if you get too close.
There ya go, found it.

When you say "barrel" I guess you mean the LPG style? These are good at providing warm air...but they tend to chew through the LPG and that just gets $$$$.
I've used the patio heaters ok, but even they go through the LPG bottles.
When I redo my shed at home I plan to fit a waste oil burner.
Would love to do it in the workshop, but need to figure out where I could run a flue.

When it gets chilly here and I want the paint to dry I just fire up the big flood lights, those 150watt jobs, that sit on top of a stand, rectangular shape usually yellow, need sunnies and sunscreen on if you stand too close. Otherwise a small patio heater is good so long as you haven't got a shed full of fumes. Usually though it only gets cold here after beer o'clock.
