What did you do to your WK Grand today?

Finally got in a maiden voyage "camp" for the WK2 and (new to me) Trackabout Camper. Just up to Maroochy Rivershore, but was great.

I collected from Wollongong NSW so I've done some solid k's with it already. WK2 tows it like a dream, no drama's doing 110km/hr and using cruise control. I just pull back to 4th if it's a decent hill.

The stock nivomat suspension is suprisingly good, even at 90k. I'd prefer it sittting a little higher now I've loaded the camper, but it's not too bad. I'm in the market for a suspension upgrade, was considering airbags but I'm leaning back towards murchisons with new nivomats.

Can't wait to get off-grid. More trips to come (in two weeks).

Unless your Nivomatts are stuffed the height at the rear with a camper or van on the back shouldn't drop anymore than a couple of mm's , I drop around 260kg on the back of mine and once I drive a few hundred metres down the road they have got back to within 2 mm of normal height......
Once you load up it takes a few hundred meters for the Nivomatts to get back to height, thats why if you add lifted springs you must have a spacer on top of the shocks, otherwise they will be working hard to get back to their level all the time, hence why they fail, thats why if you add airbags to the standard Nivomatt suspension you have to be very careful not to get carried away with pumping things up, the rear must be at the same level............ If you change the rear you should always do the front as well.

Took mine out to Jakem Farm 4x4 Park yesterday. Great fun, some awesome and very sketchy climbs, downhills and obstacles tackled. I have to say, the Grand copped it fine. I went with a mate and we eneded up tagging along with some other people there, in a Prado, Pootrol and couple of other rigs, gotta say I am proud the Grand made it up everything first time where other rigs had to have multiple cracks at stuff.
I did scrape the door on a bank, just slightly and slid the rear end into a bank, luckily for the ORA bumper saving the day again.

Yeah fair call. I don't think they are stuffed yet, they haven't had a hard life to date and aren't leaking or anything. Also, I got 2 replacement sets of rear shocks back when she was new while Jeep were trying to sort that rear knock (turned out to be the mounts). They've still probably done 80k though.

To be fair, I've never looked at it except when hitching up. That photo was 50m down the road. I definitely notice the rear travel firm up as you get under way. Will suss out ride height at the next destination... if I remember

I swear I have the touch of death sometimes. Just noticed today that my suspension is groaning or creaking with any minor travel on the rear drivers side. Will try and record the sound. Possibly just a lubrication issue? I crawled under there and everything looks ok...

Go for a nice run along a dirt road, sometimes the exercise removes the groans ............. check shock mounts are tight and the bushes aren't flogged.
