Just lucky I guess, I managed to frag my own windscreen with a gibber shard out near Birdsville. Nothing like seeing a rock fly forward from your own wheel well and arc back into the windscreen. Mind you the JK front screen is a rock magnet.

OP just get yourself a Hella 7" H4 housing from Repco or the like. It should just bolt straight in.

If you go with eBay, just remember to get one from OZ, NZ, UK or other RHD country. Otherwise the light will be designed such that it will go higher on the right & be blinding oncoming traffic. Ours are designed to be higher on the left to illuminate the roadside (& shine in the mirrors of the people you are overtaking! )

If you have to buy replacement housings as well you might as well buy HID housings with projector lenses. Upgrade to lights that actually work.

Good idea, for the same price (or even less) than the genuines you will be able to fit it out properly for HID's.

As for windscreens, been driving for 28 years now, averaging around 40,000km per year and have only replaced 2 windscreens in that time (both in the same vehicle!). Oh, and I have never taken out windscreen cover, guess i guessed it right! (having said that I will prob loose one in the morning...)

I didn't think HID conversions/aftermarket lamps were legal.

Not they're not and they're also extremely irresponsible and RUDE to other road users when they are fitted.

I wasnt talking about converting the current headlamp assemblies by sticking in the H4 compatible HID globe, which I agree is both illegal and irresponsible (I pass heaps of them every evening on the way home and they annoy the crap out of me), I was talking about replacing the the headlamp with a proper HID projector version.
