Default Monroe air shock install

Hi guys, just put 1 set of these in the back of the XJ yesterday

Monroe MA776 air lift shockies aling with a 2 inch "gojeep" bumpstop spacer.

at 70 psi i get 78mm lift (from stock classic height, not sport) and an Improvement in ride quality (way less harsh and can take rough surfaces better). it is a fraction more wallowy in the rear now as it uses a single T piece schrader valve but nothing shocking. may put a hand tap to one side to stop this as required.
testing for leaks tonight then i will do a max psi test (150psi).

also pictured are air shocks for the front, but that will be another weekend..

I would be very very cautious using airshocks in the rear of an Xj for anything other than low pressure use as the rear mounts are only sheet metal and really won't cope well with this sort of use....

Rockauto

$57 a pair

2 pairs was $260 including $137 freight. ordered thursday arrived monday

rears are 98 ford explorer = 3inch longer than stock

fronts are of a us Buick Something-or-other - 1.75 in longer than stock

with the rear ones on only at the minimum 30 psi, it gives me just under 2 in lift (because rears are at 45 deg, i don't get 3 in) fronts sgould get me 1.75 in.

Wouldn't do it my self, I'm happy with my Rancho 9000 adjustables & 3.5"HD leafpacks. And yes as JJ said, lots of info online about top rear shock mount failure/strengthening. Air shock will just increase the potential for it to happen.

$57 a pair ....

Thats actually cheaper than the rockauto XJ ones.

.... and you imported the lot for less than the price of one pair, from repco or bursons ....

Good Score

X 3 on the rear, top mount concerns tho ... an improved mount/reinforcing - would be time/pennies, well spent.

Pump up shockies are more ... average shockies with a ride levelling facility - rather than HD "shockies" ... treat em nice and they will prove usefull tho

Most places sell, line replacement kits, if you are looking for extra valves and bits for individual shockie air pressure control.
