Default Do you even AJOR???

So I started a bit of thread the other day and had a bit on the end of it about the decline in number of threads and people on AJOR.

I have returned to the Jeep community after being in North America for the past few years. It was a bit saddening to see that the forum has less than 10 new threads per day, I remember back in the day you almost couldn't keep up sometimes.

My question is, do others like me, prefer AJOR or do most Jeepers actually prefer the facebook groups?

I like AJOr, what people talk about can be looked up at a later date and used for reference, that to me makes even the weirdest dimmest questions potentially helpful. Its a bit harder with FB, unless you save the post.

I am going to do my bit and try to make at least one new thread per week and continue posting in existing ones. It would be great to see some other people that want a sense of community to jump on the so far one man band wagon.

Side note, can everyone start selling their unused parts again, there used to be heaps of 2nd hand gear for sale ...... now im paying retail hahaha

Thanks for reading, looking forward to any and all responses.

Pete

Well I AJOR, and do sometimes look on the tank forums, but prefer the Aussie one, it's less of "how much to I cut to fit 37's" and the like.
Not much goes on around here, she's a little slow, but whattdoyado, I'm not joining FaceSpace to hear when people are waiting for a pizza

I think there has been a general decline of people that wheel and wrench.Kids come along , dont have time etc.
The "Bought a Jeep" newbies prefer accessorizing than wheeling.

Yeah like the forum for the same reason - searching up useful history on my oldish machinery.

I've got some parts I've been meaning to try and sell again, thanks for the prompt.

It’s probably in part a reflection of Jeep’s plummeting reputation and sales numbers over the last 5 years. FCA Australia has comprehensively shat the bed and people are staying away in droves. I’ll be one of them - FCA and it’s dealers have given me the most stressful, frustrating and disappointing ownership experience I’ve ever had, and I’m counting down until the day I dump the thing.

When you fall out of love with the vehicle, you also tend to lose interest in talking about it.

If you go to facebook for technical information you are a fool.
Probably one of the down sides to AJOR is too many threads. It is far better to piggy back onto an existing thread on the same topic. I have tried to keep a thread or 2 free of unhelpful commentary (XJ diesel parts sticky). If you need to know non jeep part numbers or similar, the tech threads on AJOR are second to none.
If you wish to discuss what you had for breakfast while out camping, facebook is good for that.

I've been lamenting the same.

The discussion regarding WK2s both here and the Garage got pretty light-on, so I joined two Farcebook groups in attempt to stay on top of technical matters.

Unfortunately the content is mostly posturing, or questions which could be answered by a quick search. Time is lost wading through jibber-jabber for tiny specks of gold. Dickheads seem to be better tolerated, even celebrated to a degree.

It's disappointing that many "quality" forum contributors are expending more energy outside the forums now. How do we bring them back?

Cheers, Steve
