Default Snorkels - Is there a lot of difference?

So I’m looking into getting a snorkel and I have noticed that the price ranges differ fairly significantly. Is there really that much difference in quality if you’re dropping $100 or $500 on a kit?
Any advice welcome.

generally yes.
the difference comes both in quality of the casting and in the material used.
safari are arguably the best quality on the market and are well cast, strong against impact/abrasion and UV stable.

the ebay cheapy your looking at may not be as durable, could have casting issues (thin spots or even holes) and will most likely fade and become brittle in the sun over time.

but for the price you could buy 5 safari's so you need to decide if its worth paying the extra.

we had a cheaper snorkel on my fathers MK triton (safari didnt make one for it) initial impressions the build and asthetic are lower however over the last 10 years we've had no issues with it.

we also decided to go for a genuine mazda one for his 2019 BT50 purely for asthetic reasons though the safari is better quality. "its heaps cheaper if it breaks ill just buy another one" was what he had to say about it.

Cheers TJ,
Great advice there.
I’ll have to think on that a bit.
I guess it’s a bit like the old saying...

I have fitted both to various vehicles. The cheaper ones have poorer fitting instructions, missing or inaccurate templates and poor fitting against body panels. Wouldn’t consider going down that track unless it was a last resort. You get what you pay for.

Had a cheapy for the last five years, just a copy of a safari. no fading, no leaks, hasn't fallen off and does not make any noise. Seen plenty of expensive ones torn off by trees in the scrub, trust me the bush does not discriminate between brands or price.

One on one of my XJ's is a no name & has never given trouble.
I purchased a cheap one (~ $70) meant for a pajero & it was a good fit for a KJ CRD. No mod for the airbox needed.
I bit of research goes a long way.

I've had a Tuff Terrain snorkel on both my TJ and JK without a problem.

Both fitted well, and both vehicles have been in bonnet deep water many times without any issues.

I don't know if I've just been lucky but my experience with them has been good.
