No different to fuel relay problems, coolant hoses failing, alternators, tone wheels, not to mention main bearing failures, etc. You have to learn from your mistakes and FCAmerica doesn’t seem to care. Whether Stellantis does is yet to be seen. But then we also need the local people to get their act together if the are going to make it into the top ten 50,000 sales pa, pigs might fly

They were back to 600 something sales last month with Prado doing 2,792 units

Maybe it's to do with Jeep having had too many changes of ownership & management, new managements come in usually full of promises but seem focused only on marketing, not improvement. You'd think they'd wake up that marketing alone isn't cutting it given the sales numbers. Local FC management don't appear to have much influence, certainly no regional autonomy, seems all they can do is follow whatever H/O decrees.
Toyota on the other hand has never changed, they are still the same corp they've always been, although IMO their offerings are less desirable than Jeep and still they have problems, but maybe fewer? Anyway, they sell!

I think "It's a Jeep Thing" in regards to customer service, back in the 70's they pulled out of the market because of the poor service and quality people wouldn't buy them, Toyota won out because of service and quality of product, Jeep came back 20 years later full of promise and good prices to match but again quality back up, more than product quality is their biggest downfall, I think having Benz running the show improved things especially build quality for our market as they were built in Austria, far better quality than the US versions and the Benz engines and trannies were damn good stuff ..... The ZJ like the XJ great off roaders with the ZJ being more refined but then they diverged off to be slowly morphing into Toorak Tractors we have today, not really serious off roaders.... more for us retired track jumpers....

A big thanks to Farwest and all the other forum members for the help and a special thanks to All Grand Cherokee in Springvale Vic...0385213329. as farwest said great to deal with.
Ordered on Monday arrived in Perth on Thursday, just old fashioned service.
I pulled the old module to bits, interestingly the pins that go through the cct board aren't soldered, just push fit.
Oh well I may have spoken too soon, the car drives well and doesn't show any alarms, however when I did a scan today, it is now throwing two new codes.
The original problem code U0403 has gone, but two new ones have now come up.
U1450 "Implausible DTCM torque message" and U0414 "Implausible data from FDCM".
I've cleared them again I will wait and see if they keep coming up.
It may be a trip to the dealers anyway, in the end, I can't just keep throwing money at it.

I already have, I do realise that it could be stored memory and I'm not concerned, but it is the only vehicle and the other half wont see the funny side if it turns to $hit.
This is the problem I find as I get older, what was acceptable as a well we gave it a shot and it didn't work, doesn't cut it as you get older.
It is more like why the hell did you spend $x on some brain fart on a forum, when you still had to spend $x on the brain fart and then still take it to the dealer.
When it works, that's great 5minutes of fame, when it turns to $hit, 5 years of ear ache.
I'm just finding that as I get really old, what is the upside to trying, it is a hiding to nothing.
I think Jack Nicholson nailed it, in the movie as good as it gets, how do you capture women so well in your writings.
I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.

Interesting that it doesn't seem fully related to the TCM or gear box anyway, possibly a dicky sensor connection maybe.....414 mentions ACC, Adaptive Cruise Control so thats a pointer.......... "U" codes are network so, I would sit and wait if it all runs okay and the dash doesn't light up then its happy, the codes may be just initially thrown and will take time for the system reset...

Code: U1450 ....... https://www.dtcdecode.com/Jeep/U1450

Code: U0414 ........... https://www.dtcdecode.com/Jeep/U0414

The really interesting part is, those codes didn't come up on my original module, so has the replacement module got problems of its own?
I reset the codes, yesterday and as you say it isn't showing any problems on the dash, so I am going to let it ride for a while.
Another interesting code that came up related to electric sliding door, so I'm wondering if the module is from something other than a GC? Or it could be the rear door and these codes are faults from the previous car it came from.
