Chassis brace

I have now painted these plates...



To fit these I needed to remove the ARB bar, luckily it had some shims (3mm ea) in between the mounting brackets and the chassis so I was able to remove a shim from each side and then the bar and remaining shims would just slip back on.

While I was in there I wanted to clean all the chassis up so I could spray it all with some under body deadener to seal it all to prevent rust, whils in there I found that I do have a crack but in an unusual place, above the upper mounting bolt hole....




Once it was all sprayed I fitted the plates...

Drivers side...

And passenger side...




The under body spray doesn't look pretty but works well...

Then it was on to the steering box brace, everything lined up nicely due to using the template except for one thing, the engine was in the way so I had to cut the passenger side end off the brace before it reached the engine and just fit that side, better then nothing...



Later on I will make a new section that attaches to the passenger side and passes under the engine but in the mean time it works, gives more support to the steering box so better then nothing...

from what i see u have done a bloody good job ..
i will do the same but on a lesser scale
as i have no cracks at the moment in the rails i will just ad the brace from one side to the other ...valiant suffered from the same problem .. it will always happen when u have a steering box pushing only from one rail .. direct line bracing will alway help here
