No news as yet, it's been at the mechanic's for about two weeks now with no improvement. The last time I spoke with him he was trying to source some screws to isolate the abs pump to see if that was the problem.
I tried calling him yesterday but he was busy with another customer and said he wanted to try something else today and will call me later with an update.
He knows the guys at ATV in Five Dock and has spoken with them several times, they don't have any additional suggestions.
We don't think the booster is a problem, if there was a vacuum leak I'd expect a heavy, unresponsive brake pedal that took extra effort to slow down - we've got a soft, easy pedal that travels a long way before the brakes are applied.
I asked him early on about adjusting the rod that comes out of the brake booster - can it be adjusted outwards to apply more pressure on the master cylinder - he discounted that option fairly quickly, not sure why. Is it possible to adjust this rod?
Are there any other possible points of failure between the brake pedal and the master cylinder? Worn bushes? Bent components? Anything that might restrict the amount of input pressure at the master cylinder?
