Auto Trans went bang?
Hey guys,
Forgive me for my vagueness, as I'm inquiring for a friend. Her KJ 3.7 wouldn't shift up a gear the other day, then after a stop at the lights she said it went crunch and wouldn't move. It's been towed to a mechanic who is saying both the box and transfer case are toast, and need replacing.
When I looked into her getting a KJ, I read nothing about inherent issues with these parts, so I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on what may have happened?
Cheers,
Robert

Sorry to hear of your problems.
be very aware that the petrol has a different trans to the diesel.
You will probably find a good trans etc at a wrecker. Ebay probably has a few KJ's being parted out.

Yes I've been reading the differences. Hopefully I can find a good 45RFE and tfr case.

Honestly transfer cases rarely give any trouble. But yeah check Jeep wreckers. Good luck.
