Default JOCWA - 2007 Jeep Muster - Harvey - 29th Sep to 1st Oct.

Muster 2007 is HERE!

What is the Muster? The Jeep Owners Muster is an annual event run by and for members of the Jeep Owners Club of W.A. The Muster has been a Club fixture since 1995 and is always a popular event. While the format changes a little from year to year activities include competition, driving skill tests, trips, and lots of fun.

This years Muster will be both a return to the format of our successful early musters and will be looking forward to the future. With the 2008 National Jamboree only 13 months away this year's Muster is being used as a test for many of the events and ideas we will be using for the Jamboree. Probably one of the biggest changes is a return to being 'trips-centric' and becoming a 3 day event again.

While our favorite parts of the competition based musters will be retained we will be returning to running trips during the weekend. This includes the return of the night navigation run!

There will be 2 classes of vehicle preparation for competition purposes and for grading trips, stock, and modified.

Also this year we will be welcoming club members who have joined through the 'Wanneroo Jeep partnership programme' that has been in place now for more than 15 months.

So what can we expect this year? Competition? YES. Trips? YES. Fun? YES

Below is the itinerary...

FRIDAY

Registration for early-birds at the commonage (check in closes 5:30 pm)

SATURDAY

Registration (available throughout the day) (Check in opens 8:30 AM)

Trips starting from the commonage.

Trips will be available for all levels of experience and vehicle preparation.

Night Navigation run – a 2-3 hour easy off-road event.

SUNDAY

Competitive events run all day at the commonage. Two classes will be run to accommodate the different levels of vehicle preparation. Some of the events will include:

-Showtime – show off your beauty
-Jeepkhana – a gymkhana style event
-Balance Bridge – test if you know the balance point of your Jeep
-Hill tester – do you know where the front of your Jeep is?
-Riverboat course – navigate your way around the trees and across the (dry) water course
-Rainbow slalom – weave your way through markers collecting & replacing coloured balls
-Log walk – can you keep your Jeeps' tyres on the log?
-Slipery slide – how much traction have your tyres really got?
-Tyre Wall – mud, rubber, a hill, and your Jeep!!!
-Diff Muncher – the shifting sands of the sahara have nothing on this!
and of course for the rock crawling fans...
-The Precast Rubicon – we've susbstituted concrete for rock on this 50m skill test
-A new event planned (dependant on rain) is the Mud Plugga – can you get to the other side?

Finally, there may be a night run on Sunday (not a navigation run) (level medium-hard to hard)

MONDAY

Ramp test for suspension travel

Trips (½ day)

The results of the competition will be announced through the Jeep Club Forum and there will be an awards ceremony later in the year to present the trophies.

Things to know.....

CAMPING. Due to council restrictions there will be no camping allowed on the commonage (this includes so-called security camping).

Accomodation is available at the Lake Brockman Caravan Park, The Rainbow Caravan Park (Harvey), the Wagon Wheels Motel (Harvey), and various B&B and Chalet stays in the area. Please BOOK NOW to aviod disappointment.

Food. The event is generally self-catered. There will also be a food outlet at the commonage run by the hard working ladies of the Club so please patronise that when you can. Food will be available through this stand on both the Saturday and the Sunday.

Registration fees ... Jeep Owners Club members $20, non club members $100 (which will also include a 12 month Jeep Owners Club membership). Club membership is required for insurance reasons.

Location. The competition events will be run at the Jeep Club facilities 5km North of Harvey (the commonage), with the exception of the night navigation run which will begin on Honeymoon Road. The trips will also start at the commonage.

Harvey is a 2 hour drive South of Perth and the town boasts two supermarkets, a number of food outlets, caravan park, motel, hotel, 2 x service stations, etc.

The events for each day begin with a drivers meeting at 9:30 at the commonage (Jeep Club facilities as mentioned above). Please make sure you have a full tank of fuel on the Saturday and Monday as the trips will be commencing immediately the driver meeting ends.

We are expecting a fantastic turn out for this years event and welcome all Jeep owners and enthusiasts to register and come along and join the fun.
