Default KK Cooling/auto sway control/towing question answered by Jeep AU

Hi

Just thought I'd throw this up for any one new to KK's, or like me had one for 10 years, but was unsure of the inclusion automatic trailer sway control for towing, ie, the 'Tow Package III'.

Condensed version to why I emailed Jeep Au is as I could not tell if my Jeep had the Tow Sway Control built in as I need either a WDH or the sway control (yes, I'd take a WDH anyways for peace of mind, thinking insurance if needed, dear god forbid this).

I know mine had the HD cooling package as it has the mech. clutch fan and elec. fan, tranny cooler and Mopar hitch receiver for 1600kg/160kg ball or with WDH 2240kg/227kg ball weight.

My camper trailer (listed as 150kg ball weight on specs) is 170kg ball weight min. I can get it too even with full water tank at rear, hopeless if I want gas bottles etc up front. So a WDH I will use for a big boost in tow ball weight and trailer KG capacity. Without a WDH, I'd be uninsured in all road/off road conditions by 10kg.

So, here is the reply from Jeep Au for my inquiry to them (and within 2 days of a Sunday website inquiry... a big A+ would trade again wow to be fair):

This car does not have the upgraded tow package with electronic trailer sway control. It does have electronic stability control but this is part of the ABS function of the car, not anything to do with the trailer. The car does have the heavy duty cooling package as this was a spec we made standard for Australian operation. This also adds a transmission cooler. The customer will be limited to the information supplied on the tow bar

TLDR: All KK in Au have the HD cooling package as per all build specs. Not sure about all Jeep models but it looks like they might... Us KK owners can now know we all have HD cooling including tranny cooler.

Cool, or cooler as per thread.

Edit: Off-road I mean crossing farm paddocks and super light 2wd access stuff. Real 'Off-road' needs a WDH unhooked as per norms.

Default Cooling

I can add a bit to this as last week I had to have my Air Conditioning Condenser replaced as it had cracked and leaked out all the A/C gas. It was deemed 'Unrepairable' by NATRAD. They quoted @$1k for a genuine part as there were no aftermarket parts available in the country. So I personally imported a Denso part from the US for AUD$416 landed.

And this is where it ties in..... It appears the A/C condenser unit and the Automatic Transmission Cooler are one and the same. In this image you can clearly see the two different cooling chambers. I suspect the bottom part is the Auto Trans Cooler.

This is partly why it is so expensive. Because to change the A/C condenser or the Auto Trans Cooler, you are changing BOTH. I did all the research I could in the few days the car was in bits waiting, but I could not find a compatible separate A/C Condenser, that I could pair up with a bigger aftermarket Auto Trans Cooler. So I went for a direct replacement.

Now, here's the other interesting part. Unless you pull the front of the car apart like we had to, you might not see that (in my car at least) there are TWO radiator chambers! Others might have seen this before, but in all my years in mechanical workshops I have never seen a dual chamber radiator. I have seen "Dual Core", but this thing has two separate complete chambers with fins and tubes, and about an inch gap separating them.

Maybe this is what the "Heavy Duty" part of the Aust cooling package is??
