Default Indicators not working

My wife took our 2005 KJ 3.7 in for service this morning. Noticed when she started the only light on the dash was the Kilometres. No sidelights, no indicators. The mechanic found a dud fuse, got everything working except the indicators (and hazard lights).

Off to auto electrician next to find a cause. Any ideas ? Flasher unit, for example ?

There is another fuse board at the end of the dash by the top door hinge. Bingo ! Now I need to check the wiring on my trailer, looks like I have a short somewhere.

That inside fuse box is known as the Junction Block...has plenty fuses in it for lights, indicators etc. The BCM is located behind the Junction Block. The Owners Manual gives you some information of what the fuses do but the 2005 KJ Service Manual in the Sticky above will give you detailed wiring and fuse information.

If you have an After-market trailer package you could pick up all sorts of problems.
The factory fitted tow package I have has separate relays added for the trailer...they do not merely tap off the existing Jeep lights as some of the After-market kits do!

Hi Bilwill. Thanks for that. Unfortunately my KJ came without a manual. The mechanic should have been able to find it, I will embarrass him next time I see him. I have towed both my trailers numerous times and no problems, but there is a suspect area in one cable I need to check. KJ came with a Jeep tow-bar, so the wiring is probably a match. Hope so. Towed my boat-trailer today, no worries, I think I know the cause. By the way, the charge for the auto-electrician - $10. It is good to have friends.

Peter

A lot of KJ Owners believed they did not receive the Owners Manual while in the meantime it is hiding in a horizontal position at the top of the Glove Box!
