espesially is used offroad.

mine has even cracked the repairs by jeep.

I also got the run around from jeep. There was 2 stages of repair. First stage was done under a recall in 1997. If this didn't hold there was a stage 2 mod done which involved welding in a plate thing around the chasis. My stage 2 was done at Mercedes Benz Queensland about 6 years ago. They had the contract to do the mod.

Just watch the steering box as the steering wheel is turned, if you can see the box moving then you need to have the mod done.

No not all are "Dud's" and it is only the pre 97 updates affected. The issue was rectified at the factory for the post 97 update.

But later ones also have similar issues, I have with my 99 - but BIG tyres really do not help

I put longer bokts through the steering box with lock nuts on the end

Also put a steering box brace in feels heaps to drive

A steering brace is an investment especially if you have anything other than "road slicks" under your Jeep, most (if not all) of the aftermarket units I've seen available are designed for LHD vehicles so something home brew is the most likely option.
