Hi all, I had the high pitched whistle fixed under warranty at the last service. I downloaded the service bulletin (American Version, i think it was on here somewhere?) and showed this to the service department. They were happy to follow it up and there were no qualms about fixing it. On the Service Invoice it says.....

Found Bulletin 03-03-16 for complaint, found DTCM to have old part number requires new DTCM. Replaced DTCM carried out BCM proxy alignment, all okay.

And the best bit it was all free and no more whine!

My dealer totally ignored my request to look into this - and I too supplied a printed copy of the bulletin. I had also asked them to replace leaking pass side rear output shaft seal - which they ignored as well. I eventually got onto Chrysler about BOTH issues - the dealer called promptly about doing the seal and that was sorted but still nothing from anyone about the whine

Ok - we've finally got somewhere with all this and our dealer.

As I've mentioned before, I previously chased our dealership twice about both updating the engine and trans programming - AND about the high pitched whine covered by Bulletin 03-03-16.

A few weeks ago we got S55 done (the trans loom check and update) - for which they did the latest engine/trans flash (we had no fault codes related to the loom so that doesn't need replacing at this stage - they just did the latest software flash) - and I asked AGAIN that they PLEASE address Bulletin 03-03-16.

After having S55 done we basically got a new car back!! It drives like a normal automatic car now - period - and thank god!!! All the previous wierdness seems to be gone, with shifts nice and normal and predictable. There's a slight "pull" during downshift sometimes but I think that's the 4th gear (dog clutch) rev matching bizzo that happens under certain circumstances and is only noticeable under light braking.

At that time they FINALLY did assess the Bulletin 03-03-16 noise and agreed it was the applicable situation - so ordered the part. Our machine went in today to have Bulletin 03-03-16 carried out and we now have a high pitched noise free KL Cherokee - YAY!!

Thanks i will look into this as well as i have heard a similar thing in neutral at the rear. I thought it was the drain holes in the muffler whistling away so im going to double check.

edit....
Read the related TSB.......and all of them, wow there is so many!

Took the TSB in today along with the front axles TSB, had some updates to the computer for Trans shifting, codes checked updated and cleared, low battery warning TSB, new axles and rear DTCM module for whistle get fitted Friday.
