I can even tell you the JK stock suspension statistics too

Front Bump Stop distance Stock = 53mm
Front Rebound Distance Stock = 97mm
Total front travel = 150mm

Rear Bump stop distance Stock = 67mm
Rear Rebound distance Stock = 88mm
Total rear travel = 155

So for the 1/3 rule, 32.3mm lift front and 29.3mm lift rear applies. HAH - what a joke!

hahaha just change ur bumpstops, hehe

Hey Seacomms, out of curiousity are those official numbers? Looking at them they look like metal to soft bumpstop measurements, not metal to metal.

Also based on my optimistic understanding of the rules is its based on the available warrantied factory options, wonder what the Mopar lift options brings the numbers upto.

Cheers,
B.

You are correct, they are me measuring to the stock rubber bump which is how the QLD transport measures it. I have looked and looked and can not find any official stats, apart from the NSW RTS descriptor, which was updated last on April 2009 and only has the wheel centre to mudguard lip. I also found it to be spot on for the front and 54mm to high for the rear!

As for extending the rebound distance (by longer shocks) I did read somewhere (but cant find it now) that bump and rebound are not to be altered. Means you really should only use stock shocks. LOL

[QUOTE=SeaComms;1142604]they are me measuring to the stock rubber bump which is how the QLD transport measure it/QUOTE]

Thaks for clarifying, and yes that's completely retarded in it self using a point that completely compress as a baseline, means travel figures are complete bs.....

Anyway as with most things QLD transport modification related anyone with a bit of logic behind them will end up dumbfounded by their rules...

Cheers,
B.

Slightly off topic, but was just chatting to my brother who builds and mods in NSW and everything is always engineered (he loves sticking V8's in things...).

Anyways, his comment was on the Police's credentials to defect a vehicle. The law states apparently that to check a vehicle for compliance (not talking bald tyres here) requires a workshop (which can be mobile) and a QUALIFIED mechanic operating it. So for a police officer to get out a tape and measure your lift or your tyres is actually illegal! Try and tell them that next time one is going over your pride and joy

hahah that is the funniest thing I have ever heard!!

Sorry officer it is illegal for you to look at my vehicle! Cease immediately and I wont report you!! lol

How about this.... the officer is not inspecting your vehicle as a trained mechanic or engineer. He is a traffic act enforcement officer and if he believes your vehicle does not comply...he SENDS you to the inspecting station courtesy of a defect notice/sticker/canary....where the mechanic/engineer gets the tape measure out!

But feel free to try it and then post the results...hahahha!

Matt.

All this lifting stuff, is this how you tell that someone has the "Jeep Bug"?

We got the 2" lift from factory when we brought our new Wrangler Unlimited, but ever since having gone to the Perth 4x4 Show I think my dear Husband saw the Jeep display and he's talking about the Jeep being too low and he wants another 2" of lift!
I think he's been bitten by the Jeep bug?
