Default Got burnt again - what is the right approach here?

I have a 2013 GC 3.0 CRD and it had a coolant leak from a metal tube from the passenger side bottom of the engine. Gave this car to a workshop and was told that they haven't done it before and did not take a fix hours quote. They told that it will need intake manifold removal and fuel lines to remove the pipe.

They started working on the car and spent a couple of days on it removing the pipe. They had to remove the turbo to get that tube out and I understand that turbo on these engines can be PITA to remove.

Since the new tube costs 850$ new and it was a metal thing so mechanic decided to put a silver weld on it. They took another week to get everything back and had to replace the water pump as it was not in good shape.

Long story short, after two weeks they gave me a call that the pipe they fixed is not fixed and they will need to do the job again and gave me two options

1. They do the job again and I pay for the new pipe and they won't charge for redoing it.
2. I take it to someone else to do the job and they won't take a $

I was happy to go for 1 but the mechanic added another condition. He said we have spent too much time on your car and we need to earn some money for the workshop so we will work on your car after a month - oh great!

I felt cornered as if I now take this car to someone else who doesn't know what muck ups they may have done while doing the job and they will be free if I take it out.

I gave them a call after 15 days and they said we haven't touched the car and we can't give you the final date but we are aiming for the end of the month but can't 100% guarantee that.

The guy gets angry if I text him to ask how is it going and I feel as if with any question I ask, he kills an innocent person because I asked a question - that is how he makes me feel.

Now I am thinking to go and inspect the car, if it runs fine like no funny engine sounds and no rough or no leaky diesel, I take it to Jeep and get professional to do the job.

I am going crazy thinking about what should I do what is the right approach here. If I let them complete the job and they take the money and after a month something happens he will say we are booked will take a month to get to your car. Whereas, I think jeep would do better here. Cost-wise now Jeep is 400$ less than what this guy will charge.

I personally think I will have better peace of mind with Jeep in terms of after-work service and complaints.

I was soo worried that I made the following list to help think (list will tell you how stressed I am ):
1. They would put together the car with their best intentions as they would not want to do the job again
2. They told me it's leaking and if they damaged something else they would have told me
3. They offered me to take the car it means that the car runs and they haven't damaged anything else.
4. If they dropped a washer or a bolt in intake while working the car will tell what happened when it is started and I won't take it elsewhere.
5. They removed fuel lines, intake, and turbo and they didn't open the engine so the possibility of a major muck up that kills the engine is unlikely. The worst may have leaky fuel lines.

That sucks mate, what a pathetic and incompetent bunch of dicks you've been dealing with. May as well take it to a dealer, hard to see how even they could give you worse service.

So sorry to hear. To be safe I would have it towed to Jeep because I wouldn’t be surprised if they just throw everything together just to get rid of it because they won’t be seeing it again. I hate things like this happening. Bad service is a horrible thing to go through. Some people will say that you shouldn’t, but I would be letting as many people as possible know who they are so that it doesn’t happen to others. Good luck.
