That is cheap... . AFIK the only real tight torx bolt on the XJ is the oil filter adapter, which means a cheaper set might be just fine.

Used to be a Snap On junkie but over the years I've left a socket here and a spanner there and I've lost most of it. Most of the time I now purchase premium Supacheap, Repco, or Total Tools tools. I've been a mechanic for 25 + years and I have worked on everything from cars to trucks to mining equipment, and they stand up pretty well. And if I happen to eventually break or lose one, I won't cry about it

TTI and Repco tools have the lifetime replacement warranty. I tend to buy anything that has that sort of warranty just because I can go in a swap it if it does break. I would love Snap On but could never justify the expense. If I did by all Snap On my kit would have a whole lot less range. I bought a set of ETorx the other week, both spanners and sockets. I bought Teng sockets and KC Pro Etorx ring spanners. $120 for both, which I was happy with. People suggested SCA as they had them and reckon they were AOK. I didn't want SCA in my roller cab so went with decent gear, just not over the top.

I do think with some tools your best to get the top of the line gear. I have a CP rattle gun which I bought SH but never used for $40. Absolute bargain considering its worth around $400. Funny thing I have never used it. Instead I have always just pulled out the cheapo $50 Repco rattle gun, can't even remember the brand. But it sometimes needs a bang on the ground to work. So guess the CP one will come out of the drawer one day.

Default King Dick tools

Inherited some King Dick spanners about 50 years ago. Lost them by now. Did not think they still existed. Great quality back in the previous century.

I love my Bahco socket sets. I've had the 3/8" kit as long as I've had the jeep (8 years) and its never missed a beat. Bought a 1/2" kit recently for the bigger jobs and they feel just as nice. In my opinion they feel heaps nicer than the Kinchrome/Sidcrome sets (the recent stuff) at a comparable price.

I love my Bahco ratchet spanners. I used to have an original Bahco shifter European made. Bahco are now made in Taiwan I believe but like you say Hamsteh still really nice tools.
