CRD has a big plastic Transmission cover which fills with sand and/or mud and gets low to the ground and gets damaged or ripped off. This plastic cover is removed to fit the factory Tranmision skid plate. I ripped mine off and through it away the other day and fitted factory skids.

I don't think the petrol has the big plastic Transmission cover, but I have never looked.

The petrol doesn't have any plastic cover on the tranny, you just fit the steel skid plate straight up.

I recently bought the CRD over the heavily discounted petrol. It was a hard decision as jeep dont seem motivated to offer the same discounts on the diesel anytime soon so i effectvly paid $6k for the diesel over the petrol! After plenty of testing I still couldnt go past the diesel - its still that much better IMHO.

The plastic cover underneath on the CRD seems to just be a noise reduction type job with no other real purpose that I can see, other than to gather sand and mud. ill be swapping it for a proper skid in due course too

Other additions will be a lift, better all round tyres and a set of roof bars

I just picked up my KK Limited petrol a couple of weeks ago, The discounts on offer were to good for me to walk past!

I got the skyslider roof, I know some don't like it, but dispite that it is a lot of fun,

The things I am planning on modifiying are:

1> Skid Plates (look at keiths story and get the plates fitted)
2> a 2.5" lift
3> Better tyres
4> A front bar, once they are avalible

Apart from that, everything else seems enough from what I have planned. Have fun in your new Jeep

Hi gang,

Just wondering where/how you got $38,000 on a limited petrol. My local dealer won't budge on $39,999 - the advertised special price.

Also, how much to the 4 skid plates cost?

Thanks,

Mark

I think the trick is to go:

You: "C'MON!!!!"
Dealer: " $39000"
You: " Doo IT"
Dealer: "$38000"
You: "Yeeeah"

I think you might have a point there loric. You made me laugh when I read that.

One more question guys. Does anyone know what tyre options are available for the limited.

For anything that is not road only - Cooper, BF Goodrich none

235/60R/18

Wrangler ATR - Have a pay up front 90 day lead time $480 per tyre
Pirelli Scorpion AT - $360 per tyre available tomorrow

Trying to find a review on experience with the Pirelli but haven't found anything yet. Anyone here have an experience?
