Don't want to be a wet blanket but, what's the point?
As was said earlier, at 50 degrees the thermostat is closed. Therefore the fan and radiator system aren't being used. That is, your now spinning fan is spinning for nothing. The radiator and fans (which are nothing more than assistants to the radiator) are only used when the thermostat opens at 91 degrees or whatever it is. Best off using the existing system I think, (assuming it works, but even then you still need to fix it if it isn't.)

it didn't work that was the problem, the problem with my XJ is apart from the over heating problem 95% of XJs have, i have a dual battery and compressor adding to the heat in there, i have had nothing but problems with my heating/cooling system, so i am trying to get the heat out of the engine bay aswell, i have installed a 82 degree thermostat to try to get the water flowing earlier and ive set the temp sensor to about 80 aswell, im sick of it over heating i have one everything else i can think of.

OK then. I would still prefer to have that problem sorted first, but obviously I haven't been through the grief you have.

look to be totally honest i would love to just have the $$ to take it to someone and just tell em to fix anything but the reality is, since i got the car i have changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, radiator cap, flushed the block, flushed the new radiator, cut holes in the bonnet, put a thermo override switch on, lifted the back of the bonnet........ ya know what i mean i have done nearly all i can think of....... running out of ideas
