Default Replacement hard tops for older jeeps

Hi folks,

New member here so apologies if I am going over old ground in or the wrong thread .. I did some forum searches and google etc but couldnt find the answer I need..

I am looking at a buying a 1997 - 2000 Wrangler, - at that age I am expecting to need to fix some mechanicals and also hoping to do some general restoration and extras with a view to keeping it.. and for my needs I will definately need a hardtop..I have seen some promising buys , but many are with softops..is it possible to buy replacement hardtops in Aus and be certain of availability before I buy a softtop?

Many Thanks

W

I don't know of anywhere that sells new TJ hardtops in Oz.
Second-hand tops come up for sale from time to time.
Prices vary but I've seen asking prices as high as $2500 for a top in really good condition.
Most go for less than that though and famously, someone on this forum gave one away a few years ago.
Medium price would be about $1500 or a bit less.
Just so you know, there are some differences between 97-02 and 03-06 hardtops but I believe they will all fit.

I bought a soft top TJ about 3 or 4 years ago and found a hard top at Double Black off road, luck of the draw really. That was $1,250.00 in excellent condition, hardly a mark on it.
