Arrow Buying advice please?

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a Jeep Wrangler to get to some better camping spots where I live (alpine/high country). Won't be thrashing it around. Thinking diesel for fuel efficiency.

Everyone I know is telling me not to buy a Jeep. So I'm here for some legitimate, first hand knowledge and experience

Apart from haggling down the price, does this Wrangler appear to be a good buy from the pictures/info? Up to date service history etc.

Any advice appreciated, thank you!

Don’t buy a diesel wrangler, there isn’t much of a fuel saving and the 3.6 is a pretty good motor that is cheap to maintain

I have a 3.6L JKU Petrol Sport and have owned it since new in 2016.

A highly capable off road car out of the factory. The motor is powerful.

The Wrangler has street and off road presence.

Can't complain about anything in the 5 years that I have had it.

I have been an owner of an (almost stock) 4.0L XJ Cherokee Sport since 1995 and it has gotten me to places (and through places) that 70 series Landcruisers go - the most recent being in 2019. There is no remote area Jeep service/parts network like there is for the 70 Series Toyotas (which are the work horses of NGOs, Government Depts, Mines, Pastoralists etc). But there doesn't need to be as long as people drive to the conditions and are well prepared when they go inland. When my XJ was first sighted in the bush in 1995, people driving Toyotas and Nissans would chat among themselves saying how their rigs were better (than mine). I reckon none of them would still have the car they were originally driving back then.

If you are buying any kind of used car it is worthwhile getting a pre-purchase inspection done like Farwest suggested.

Good Luck.
