Default FSJ Diff's vs CJ Diff's

IS there much of a difference? Id assume they are wider, drum rears, Disc front, D44's

I just bought one with a 84 with a 360, A727, D300 but body is rusty so im stripping it for parts. Anyone wants some FSJ bits?

D44 front. AMC Model 20 rear.
They are around 5 to 6 inches wider. The rear is an inch narrower.
The disc brakes are a lot bigger and 6 stud.
The rear axels have a single flange and the bearings are bigger. Same as f100.
The tubes are larger diameter.
With a D300 transfer you must have an earlier front axel. I think about 82 the FSJ went to lh passenger side drop. Earlier front diffs are narrower then the latter.
They can be cut down to fit CJ. I have done this for my CJ.

I have early FSJ front D44 in my CJ7 rather than cutting you can also outboard your springs

the extra width makes it look about perfect and is so much more stable both on road and off

You can use D30 outter knuckle if you want to keep 5 on 5.5 but if you used front and rear from a FSJ the 6 on 5 then wheels of a toyota or nissan will work

the FSJ AMC 20 has 1 piece axles and thicker tubes from factory and this fixes the majority of issues with the amc 20

I have a scout 44 rear and is a great match

Depends how early too, my 67 FSJ has a Dana 53 rear and 5 stud all round, same pattern as F100/Suzuki. Drums on all 4 corners.
