IMO, manufacturer recommended service intervals are stretched. As Troutman has already pointed out, oil degrades whether the car is standing or driven hard. Low km cars will suffer even more if left standing or subjected to short cold runs. The basic principal applies to any car.

I do less than average km's in my Jeep and therefore ignore distance totally. My servicing gets done every 6 months regardless. Instead of trying to save money by skimping on servicing, I buy Penrite Enviro 5w 40 FS whenever Autobarn has a 30% off sale (cost me $84 for 10L two weeks ago). My trusted independent Jeep mechanic then does the service using Mopar filters and my oil, at a very reasonable labour rate. Not even remotely near the cost of dealer servicing. If my back was in better nick allowing me to crawl under, I'd do the work myself

Agree ... which is why I'm about to do the oil and filters myself. But can't seem to find anywhere to get them online?

My mechanic supplies the filters so I haven't looked elsewhere. I'm not sure of his source, otherwise I'd probably have to buy from a dealer.

Oil filters can be found on Ebay easy enough mate, part numbers are WESFIL WCO201 (2014 on) or MOPAR 68229402AA. Engine oil can be found at Autubarn/Supercheap/Repco, Penrite Enviro+ 5W-40, Mobil 1 Delvac 5W-40 ESP or go with FCA's recommended Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40.....though this oil is not a great fit IMO and Shell are very cagey about publishing the sulphated ash levels....I suspect it will be higher than what is good for your DPF.

I have trouble agreeing that the oil will degrade enough in 6 months to require changing.
I do mine every 10,000ks and have an analysis done, based on the analysis it could easily go 20,000.
My run around town car does about 4000 a year, service schedule is 12 months or 25000ks.
Based on its analysis the oil could easily do 8000 and 2 years.
New synthetic oils are completely different to the old mineral based oils.
I also thought that jeep changed their service schedule to 12 months and20,000ks.
Also somewhere I saw the question on the saps of Shell Helix Ultra 5w40, it is 1.2.
