Default UHF Aerial Mount

Some time ago I bought an aerial mount for the rear of the vehicle. I deliberated on where to mount the aerial and played with several locations - all would work.

or

But ultimately I settled for this location:

It works well here and I'm happy with this location.

Recently I found that I needed to mount another aerial and could not find the bracket again. So I'm thinking of getting some made up. Instead of the adjustable unit as shown I' going to make up a left and right hand version so either side of the vehicle can be used.

The bought one also required a but of modification to make in fit over a seam in the bodywork and this will be incorporated in the fabricated model.

It's very easy to fit with just three rivets.

Is anyone else interested? I have no idea of cost yet but I paid around $25 for the one I purchased on eBay. I would suspect a one piece version would cost less due to one piece construction etc.

Cheers,

DM

I'm not very keen on drilling and pop riveting into the body though, but everyone to their own!

Neither was I and it took me ages to work up to it. When I actually did I was surprised at how easy it was - the sheetmetal is not very thick. If I want to remove for sale reasons I will just put rivets back in to fill the holes.

Nice neat install, I'm not sure I'm keen on drilling through the sheet metal either.
My short stubby antenna is routed through the wiring for the hatch wire loom boot and out under the roof rack rail and pops up on the back of my rack, gets great range up there and is small.

Wait until you fit your own snorkel. You're only nervous until the first cut, after that, it's too late to do anything about it
