Okay, lets focus on why you ended up putting a 1/4 wave on this custom bad boy! Please explain.

I have the same type of aerial and I mounted the flange on a mudguard bolt under the edge of the bonnet. Works perfectly and routing the lead to the UHF was a lot easier; not having to go from the back of the vehicle to the dash area. I use the taller aerial when touring.

I did not like the brackets for the bonnet mount and thought this was a good place to put it. Slightly higher up for better reception and no issues with low parking lots. Also, the front mount brackets are thinner and the aerial wobbles a bit.

I'm making a second one for the other side for a CelFi antenae.

Cheers,

DM

I like the idea of using a one of the bolts under the bonnet, just a question of finding a mount that is strong enough.

I'm just going to stick mine on the bull bar I don't like those bonnet mounts, too much flex, was thinking of a drop down off my awning bracket and running cable in thru rear door but would be sure to forget its up and drive into garage.

I was going to do the same thing on my Wrangler and move the aerial from the bull bar to the roof rack. Then after a rethink, I thought better of it. Out of sight out of mind and the last thing I wanted to do was snap a $200 aerial.
