Jeep may say life but ZF don't!
They recommend a filter & flush @ 60,000 miles or 100,00k

Well Jeep actually schedule it for 100K km but my ZF files show 70K km but knowing what the pan looks like with crud after that time and wanting another 200K km out of it I prefer the 45-50K km change........

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go when I get a chance.

Sounds like it's worth it, as I'm nearly onto 100k/km so will probably change the oil every 50k from now on.

Sounds like the way to go. Stuffing around with jacks under the gearbox is way to hard for me.

I'll take a pic and post it when I'm done.

Cheers

I did use a modified T40 drive which fitted into a very small ratchet spanner but it took forever to undo so got out the drill, now have a T40 bit welded onto a long hex drive which does the job.......
I use some ramps I knocked up from 3m x 50mm garden sleepers, laid a couple on top of each other, screwed together with batten screws and cut in half with chain saw at angle, one in front of each wheel and drive onto them in LOW and gives me a nice level 100mm lift, so I'm about 140mm higher than standard but am thinking of adding another board so I can roll over easier....... last change I knocked things and gave myself a lube job. Have screwed a block on the end of each one so I have a wheel stop..

I had a quote from the ZF agent in Melbourne for $1034.

Anyone in Melbourne found a cheaper quote using genuine ZF oil and pan?

Cheers,

DM

I got a genuine ZF pan from Gernany for $160.00 landed. It was on special.Havnt done the job yet but will be using the Penrite ATF BMV reccomended for the 8 speed ZF box. When the so called genuine ZF fluid is used the cost of the service gets ridiculous..! One auto shop told me 3 hours labour ,
another said 2 hours ,go figure !
