Default UHF Radio Location

I know there are countless posts about this - but not recently and not specifically what I would like to know.

I have a 2016 Overland and would like to know where others have located their UHF radioes. I am keen on the Icom IC-450 80 Channel so that I can hide the head unit as I am keen to keep the 'untouched' look of the interior yet have the practicality of a UHF when I am away.

Thank you.

I have just had a look on Prestige Communication and the GME TX3350 80 also looks good - and super compact.
Does anyone use one?

HI,

Have the Uniden unit with the controls on the head unit. The rest is tucked under the centre console between the two drivers.

We just rest it in the front drink holder in a soft cloth. Some have mounted it with double sided tape to the side of the console.

Cheers,
Sally

HI,

The middle console between the two drivers (where the Sat Nav is). The cord comes our underneath on the left (passenger's side) at the bottom, and the mike just sits in the cup holder. Hope that makes sense!

Cheers,
Sally

I have the IC-450 in my Laredo mate. I put the unit in the glovebox and ran the mic lead under the dash so it pops out over the top of the steering column rubber boot and just lays there perfect (curly cord section) with the mic just under the vent to the right of steering column. You get an extension lead for the mic in the box with the IC-450.

Uniden 5060 installed underneath the dash and a dab of superglue to hold the cradle .
