I have a JKU 3.6L and an XJ 4.0L, the JKU is a great solid car and very capable. I have only good things to say about it. But the XJ is my goto car on very long distance trips and the kids prefer it because the seats are like a comfy lounge. For me, the lack of sensors and electronics means that the car is forgiving in the bush.

If my XJ was to be no more, I would replace it with a TJ.

Be in a TJ for at least another 10 years , whether it will be the same one , only time will tell.
Have accumulated that many spares, it would be a shame to move on.
Have 2 spare good motors.
Have put a bolt in cage and plated the roof under the soft top , for comps last year.
Just put Second-hand Warn Rockcrawler bars on it.
See how long they stay for , when the bullbar amnesty finishes next year

NSW, been in place for a few years , they want everyone's bullbar ADR compliant. But couldn't start without a warning. Pick your new vehicle up with dealer fitted bullbar and the next day get booked for it.

I hate politicians and bureaucrats more and more each day

It's probably the cyclists.
I think they prefer to be hit with a flat piece of steel with no protrusions that's got an ADR sticker on it , than a round piece of rubber full of air

Who would sign off on compliance for preexisting setups?

Does it include nudge bars that do not spread across the entire width of the front end?

This is madness. If you live in outback locations, you need a decent bullbar. Just another example of how pollies view voters outside of Sydney.
