Red face Recovery Points

Hi Guys,

I must appologise as I know this question has been asked alot on other threads, but I am still confussed.

Are there any front and rear recovery points on a 2007 JK with standard bumpers? If so where? If not how do I install them?

Is it possible to install a tow hitch for a boat with a standard rear bumper, do they just bolt on somewhere?

Thanks in advance

HI Bryce

You are right that this has been asked alot. But it is an important question. The factory Jeep comes with "tow" hoops front and rear. Driver's side front and passenger side rear (in Oz) and they are fairly robust units. I prefer really heavy duty recovery points and connections to both sides of the chassis for recovery. The rear can use a Hayman Reese style receiver to fit a receiver style recovery point

For the front you can do the Mopar Hooks or something similar. I'd suggest getting a bullbar right away as they can be so functional.
Built in Recovery Points
Frontal protection
Winch mounting platform
Antenna Mounting platform
Sand Flag mounting platform
Bill at DoubleBlackOffroad a sponsor of this site will steer you right. If I didn't already have an ARB bar on my Jeep I'd buy one of his new ones. Here is DBOR new bar

Good luck and happy Jeeping

note that few front and rear bars have built in recovery point options. Most bolt on with or simply provide space to mount something.

PS: If you have no plans to modify the suspension then I would seriously consider the Mopar steel bars with the US factory style front recovery hooks (they are rated, not ideal for a snatch recovery but many recovery points really are not - for a slow pull they are sufficient). Reason I say this is the Mopar bars are relatively light weight.
