Yeah the plan is to fit a yukon grizzly locker to the front with the gears to deal with the weak carrier issue, hopefully with 30 spline and new axle shafts. I'd never go 4.88's on a d30 just not strong enough IMO I just don't like the idea of only having one full tooth of gear mesh. Also wouldn't suit my needs just too many revs on the hwy! I'd rather swap out the transfer case and pull back the ratio some more there, but then where does it end?

Yeah I hear ya about the revs but it'll spend most of it's life on a trailer. Yep the 4.88 wide cuts I have on the shelf will be heaps strong enough for my slow crawl driving style. After a few trips and once I've sorted it I'll fit the ratio's and build my doubler behind the AW4>Doubler(NP231/2.72:1) >NP231OR(4:1)>4.88's=8.79mtr/1000rpm with 35's and that's why I'll need the RCV's(30spline).

What kills a D30 with 4.88's is to much right foot and shock loading em but the fuseable link is the stock axle uni's......who knows maybe I'll build the HBD44HS I've always dreamed of

Just got some pics of the artec gear for the 8.8 swap. Love their stuff just super strong and very well designed. The truss has a pinion tie in bridge which I really like and the spring perches also tie into the truss for a super clean look! I will most likely have cut and extend those shock mounts down so I don't loose up travel but they are one of the only mounts with the shock eye orientated the correct way.

Just hope the dollar doesn't drop too much more in the next couple of weeks!

Got my rocker armour finished up and mounted this morning. Fitted perfectly and I think It looks good with the rest of the black on the jeep. Knocked over a few other little jobs that I've kept putting off and I even managed to give it a wash! Of course now it's bloody raining also ordered 4 meters of an-6 braided hose for my tranny oil cooler so that will be the next job along with a power steering cooler.

The last shot just shows how they bolt up from underneath and save the pinch weld area.

I adsolutenly hate 4.88's with my front auto locker. When your trying to get up a steep climp thats loose or muddy, heading it lock in and out with big clunks and bangs isnt pleasant!!
