Default (MIL) Malfunction Indicator Light

(MIL) Malfunction Indicator Light

Driving home from work today this light comes on, and then noticed i was limited to about 2000RPM. (If i wasn't stopped by some traffic lights I probably wouldn't have noticed at all until i turned into my street) It was like it was in a limp mode to preserve the mechanics.

It's too dark for me to give the car a once over right now, so I'll do it in the morning. Anyone had this happen?

I will check fuses, fluids, etc....

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Take my car into my mechanic

I describe whats going on and to check the turbo hose.....

They call - "we think its the airflow sensor, we cleaned it, 9/10 it fixes it. See how it goes, but a replacement is about $450 - I drive it 2km and warning lights comes back on.....

I do a u-turn and drive it back in.... I ask again "did you check the turbo hose?"

They just called.... "You were right, we found a 4 inch split down the turbo hose.."

Thanks AusJeepOffroad Community!!!!

we think?
buy a $20 obd unit and bring up the codes and check for faults. why are you paying someone to "think" they fixed it?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ELM327-OB...item2ec84f06c7

the app called "torque pro" on any android based platform will enable you to bring up any fault code the ecu/car has, It can check all sensors in real time

Keep in mind most generic code readers wont see ABS faults or Transmission control faults, for everything else they can be handy.
