There are crate engines putting out 290hp for 6.5k. So seeing what a shop can do here in aus. Appreciate hp can lower engine life. But when done right and looked after will always last.
I really can’t imagine 400hp naturally aspirated without a big buck build by really talented engine builders with heaps of time on their hands. Honestly, that could cost you upwards of $50,000 the way most charge these days.

I’ve heard of 350 - 400hp on smaller strokers of 4.2 to 4.5L turbo charged.

There is a specialist Jeep rebuilder in the US that does up old Jeep’s like XJ and TJ, big buck engine rebuilds ect… and then sells them for US $50,000 to US $100,000 + Check out Davis Autosports - https://davisautosports.com/lifted-c...e-xjs-for-sale

The thing is that older Jeep’s like ours are never going to be fast cars. We can make them more powerful but other than doing burn out competitions where you would want a worked LS as a bare minimum, then I can’t think of what going above 200kw (270hp) is going to achieve for you.

Personally, just go a good strong engine recondition followed by springtex supercharger and an engineers certificate. Plus of course the normal bits like bigger injectors ect.. https://www.sprintex.com.au/wrangler-tj-4-0/

By the way, my next project which is costing circa $20,000 is an EV conversion on my TJ.
