The wife likes it and it's starting to grow on me, but it looks incapable of doing any real 4wd work. I think it looks a bit like my wife's Nissan Murano, or a Subaru Tribeca, and if that's what Jeep are trying to compete with, I would still buy the Nissan or Subaru over the Jeep.

it has been circulating the kj forum and the news forum a while now, and from what most have said it's now all wheel drive and has no true "off-road capability...... i hate the way jeep is going with its direction in targeting the mall crawler soccer mums or the "hektik.....fullysik p plater that drives like a retard"...... gone are the days when jeep had a good off-roading reputation and capability if you havent bought a wrangler or commander..... even the grand is going that way IMO

They will probably promote it like the Compass, bravely fording about two inches of water while "Don't Hold Back" plays in the background.

I think I'll keep my KK.

Hate it.....

But jeep aren't alone, the Defender as we all know it is also soon to be softened up the original shape that has been the same for more than 60 years will soon be no more. I hate to say it but it wouldn't surprise if jeep went the same way with the wrangler shape in the coming years...

I put it down to how soft society has become these days, soft society breeds soft roaders...

It appears that the "aesthetic" direction Jeep's new owners are taking it is towards appealing to a greater spread of the mainstream populace, in the name of "better" market economics. Curves, aerodynamics, comfort, fuel-saving technologies seems to be the mainstream now. And the traditional Jeep "thing" ain't leaders in any of these categories.

I personally do not like it. It looks like Fiat was trying too hard to force an otherwise fiat-looking piece of metal to look like a jeep, with TACKED-on front grille (seriously?) and somewhat squared-off wheel arches. Poor.
