Unhappy P201D Code - Broken Swirl Motor gear, resistor mod??

Trying wreckers for a 2nd hand swirl motor but not having much luck.
This motor is mounted underneath the intake manifold.
So far 2nd hand intake quote $750AUD

Anyone done a resistor mod on the newer Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel Series MY14.. Jeeps done 180k so far

I get a P201D code but without a check engine light. Butterfly valves are open in the default position so seems to run ok when it was broken.

Only reason I have it open is because I have to replace both the Turbo coolant hoses. Need small hands and bugger of a location to get to without dropping the engine

It's on my Too Doo List....... Doubt the resistor mod would hurt, I did the EGR defeat on my old 2.7 and it worked a treat, swirl motor is a useless bit of crap anyway, fit a catch can also.... Doesn't seem to be common on the VM engine though.

Sorry to digress, but I can't help endorsing Drover's advice to fit a catch can - I've had mine on for a few months and empty it periodically. The other day I opened the tap after about 2000km of running and released around 50ml of oil. All that gunk would be going through the intake without the can.

Couple of things
1. The swirl motor is to control the EGR flaps on the intake isn't it? If so a resistor to keep them closed would be pretty good. Keep us in the loop if you fin out this information and what resistor is required. I would be very interested.

2. You will still get oil vapour through even with a catch can. I am 100% for catchcans and fitted one on mine as soon as I drove it home from dealer brand new. I have done 53000km in an MY15 and am seeing a little bit of seep at the intake manifold connection of intercooler cold pipe. Basically if the catchcan was 100% efficient, it wouldn't flow any air at all.

3. Watch the western filter catchcan kits. The brackets are good but the hoses they supply are crap. Mine weeps bad. Buy decent hose and it won't be a problem.

Hey mate, I've got a swirl motor resistor emulator, brand new in my shed somewhere. I imported it it a few years ago for my Merc motor in a 300C that I owned. If you're interested, I'll have a look for it.

Cheers

Well mostly a Swirl Motor causes turbulence for the air/fuel mix to blend better, it isn't the EGR, thats a seperate flap ........

A catch can will collect a majority of the oil vapour coming from the sump and lessens the gunge which is made when it meets the dry soot let into the manifold from the EGR, on my WG I fitted an EGR delete amd catch can which did a great job of letting the engine breath, In my Colorado I just fitted a catch can as the EGR delete for it could be doidgy, the manifold on the Colorado was just dry and sooty, no gunge and a clean of the MAP sensor every 50K kept everything good, in this WK2 oil burner its getting a catch can, not going to worry about an EGR blank as its just too hard but I'm certainly looking into the Swirl Motor and either just add a resistor or at least ensure it doesn't get a bath in oil which seems to be the cause............
But a Catch can does work, over 300,000kms with them, on 2 vehicles worked well, would draw off about 120ml every 10,000km.

You need a tune for EGR blocking. The big problem with the EGR's in the US at the moment seems to be related to the ECU update VO8 for EPA compliance. I would like to order one of these kits so that I can remove the possibility of coolant problems from a faulty EGR. Have had the tune in mine since 100K and end of warranty. Now at 201K with no problems
