Thanks Jimmy.
Informative.
It's gotta be a fine balance. Not an easy job.
Cheers...

Exactly Bruggz, we have never run popups adverts, they did appear a long time ago but we stopped using the company that provided them.

Now days it is merely the banners, and they are in a static spot, which can be glanced over if of no interest. We try and setup key words to "attent" to make the ads relevant but Google can have a seeming mind of it's own and display whatever.

I turned off my add blocker a while ago actually at the request of this forum! However a couple of weeks ago those annoying rollover with your mouse and they take over your screen adds between posts came back so I have turned it back on for now.

To be honest I hate adds and have never actually clicked on one intentionally. They are always advertising for stuff I was looking for yesterday and are of no use to me today!!

I will look into turning off the mouse over option if it is available in Adsense.

Not sure this site has much to worry about, if the add is blocked or not is a matter of taste and certainly has little impact on this site or the companies choosing to market with them. If you are supplying a "pay per click" advertising strategy then you are just crazy (like charging australians for data usage), the end client is more concerned (or should be) about exposure to then number of people in your "active" user base and not how many clicks there are (as this is easily increased artificially). This of course should include restricted access for companies who are not paying to be a sponsor as they have not made a commitment to the site to be able to use it to converse with current/potential customers.

If the site is using a "pay per click" then you are running a very antiquated marketing strategy and if you are not generating enough revenue from it then your are failing to take advantage of a easy revenue win by simply employing some bots. No one is interested in watching adds and the fact that you can remove them is a big plus for many users especially the way they have been embedded (not everyone has a 100mb connection)
