Well they told me they checked for leaks and could not find any and that the levels were fine though upon getting home and checking they had topped it up - over the max line!
How hard they looked??

mine's also a bit low in the reservoir.. looking at getting some fluid to top up..

Might be a stupid question but is there an easy way to tell if it's electric rather than mechanical, like just check for a power steering pump on the front of motor?

It's a 2012 diesel.

Thanks.

As a 2012 diesel it has the electric power steering pump, also check your steering rack boots for oil leaks

From the Penrite website:

"LDAS is recommended for the service re-fill or top-up of the power steering and suspension systems in many late model European manufactured prestige vehicles.

LDAS is coloured green and can be used as a direct replacement for OEM LDS fluids or it is a ready replacement for OEM Pentosin CHF 11S and can also be used as a replacement for LHM+ type fluids creating less inventory for workshops."

Reviving an old thread.....

This Penrite product IS listed on their site as compatible with MS-11655, go to https://www.penriteoil.com.au/products/ldas which is the product specification page and it is listed there.

Another option to consider.

Anybody used the Penrite to top up steering fluid. The one above outlines it meets MS-11655 (which is what I need) and is suitable for top up.
