Default Urabn Assualt Vehicle - Stage 4

Now were getting there

So... The plan is to turn the stock JK Unlimited Sport into an all black urban beast capable off road and of course of dominating the Cottesloe and Fremantle cafe strips.

Boy oh boy was i in trouble when terrycags gave me his CSE Offroad "Rugged Ridge" catalogue. So I made a big order and given that on Friday, the weather had turned here in Perth for the better, i went roof off. Saturday, while the GF was on, me and a dedicated mate enjoyed a full days sunshine and fitted all the gear that had finally arrived. And got very sunburnt.

Euro Guards front and rear, Door sill protectors, handle recess guards, grab handles, floor mats, mirror relocation brackets (what a bastard it was to get the mirrors out - note for you all: If the cast alloy has calcified like mine, unscrew the torx head at the bottom of the mirror and tap gently with a hammer, i am a big guy and lifting the first one out almost gave me a haemorroid and smacked me in the face when it did come loose), windsheild brackets, aluminium billet grill inserts. fire extinguisher with holder, neoprene handle covers (5pc), locking gas hatch cover.

So i got carried away, I am just trying to enhance the durability and usefulness of an otherwise already very awesome product. Give me a break

Default UAV - Stage 4 cont'd

So, given we were taking off the windscreen brackets, we decided we might as well put down the windscreen. I can share that it is a bit of a mission, and not that easy to just whip down when off road. I would only consider doing it again if i was not going on a sealed road for days at a time. When the side bars come off you feel quite unprotected. The windscreen appears it can come completely off its hinge though, by removing some hex bolts. In this mode you would definately attract some negative attention from the boys in blue.

I also took off all the internal warning stickers and the 'WRANGLER & UNLIMITED & SPORT' stickers on the exterior of the vehicle. I did fit two warning stickers of my own however.

In addition, i got caught by those guys in the shopping centre carparks and ended up buying some of that 'canoubra?' wax carwash in a can stuff. What can i say, flattery gets you everywhere, who can resist 'Oh sick Jeep bro!' Despite the assurances, i hosed off the car first and i am happy with the result, particularly on the rims after i used it, damn brake dust

proudaus,

Thanks for sharing mate and nice rig. The RR kit is addictive to buy though and can sympathise with that.

Default AEV Snorkel vs Safari, and rattle fix.

I concur!! I have an AEV and it's brilliant. I have spoken to a Safari owner and he's very disappointed with it. He says it's noisy and he can feel it rattle.

I have both the ram air and the fish bowl. They both work a treat and pull a LOT of air. Even in city driving I've had to empty the collector in the bowl a couple of times. It's been full of grit and bugs, but that would have gone into the filter if the pre-filter didn't catch it.

The snorkel fits well with my Garvin Wilderness Rack (not the fish-bowl, it rubs a little bit, but the ram is fine). The radio antenna rattles the tiniest bit inside the notch left for it, but that's easily fixed by sliding a small length (about 4cm) of fuel line over the antenna. It fits well into the notch on the snorkel and clamps onto the antenna.

Fishy.
