Armor linking body to chassis

Hey. This weekend I am beginning my rock sliders and tube fenders. My plan was to link up the rock sliders, tube fenders, front and rear bar. This would mean though that the body would be solidly connected to the chassis. Is this ok to do? Having them all one part would make it very strong and also means I can mount a roof rack off of it. Also would I be best to get 1.5" or 2" tube to make it?

Cannot join body mounted parts to chassis mounted ones because body is isolated from chassis by rubber mounts.If you do the body will crack.

Yes you can do it. For doubters have a look at what most early model vehicles used...ie bugger all
Will just obviously transfer loads more NVH into the cab.

Dam it now to figure out how to mount it. Can I still mount the armour to the grill and chassis? Then just leave a 10mm gap between fender and tub and fill it with foam? Then the tub can move and still not touch the fenders. Rear would have to be the same too, leave a 10mm gap and fill with foam.
Will this work? Any better ideas?

Since the body is rubber mounted to the chassis it can and does move around on it. If you weld the tube flares to the front and rear bars which are attached to the chassis, they will crack away from the body. Other alternative is to remove the rubber body mounts and attach the body directly to the chassis. This will stop the cracking issues, but will make for a shocking ride!

You will also probably find there is a small amount of flex in the chassis, so you will still prob end up with the body cracking anyway.
